North Perth Town Centre Precinct

This project engaged the community of the inner city suburb of North Perth to create ideas for the future of their town centre. The Co-design activity built on the place values established in previous workshops and gave shape to them. Six groups each created and presented a place vision which looked at key place elements such as the location of ‘the beating heart’ and movement networks as well as the distribution of additional density/households. Fairplace analysed the outcomes and discovered common themes which were presented back to the local authority (City of Vincent). Key findings concerned the communities preferences for density which integrated with local context and maintaining the grain of movement and built form which helped define the existing ‘village feel’.
